Hair Clippie

As my first tutorial I will be showing you how to make this cute simple hair clippie.

Step 1. Gather supplies
alligator clip
3/8" ribbon (I prefere grosgrain ribbon but satin works too)
tape measure or ruler
scissors
lighter
gluegun

Step 2. Cut ribbon
Measure your clip to determine how much ribbon you will need. You can find alligator clips at several different stores so your clip might not be the same size as mine so adjust your ribbon lengths as needed.
For this clip I will need 3 lengths of ribbon.  5 1/2", 4" and 1 1/2".

Step 3. Heat seal ends
Use a lighter and very quickly and evenly run it across the ends of the ribbon. This will keep the ends of the ribbon from fraying.

Step 4. Line the clip
Put one end of the ribbon inside the clip.

Add a line of hot glue on the clip and fold the ribbon back over it and press it together until the glue holds.
Turn the clip over and add one more line of glue.
 Wrap it around the end.

You can stop here and wear it just like this, or glue on a button or jewel to decorate it if you wish. :)

Step 5. Make a loop
Using the 4" length of ribbon make a circle by adding a tiny drop of glue to the end.
Step 6. Attach the loop to your clip
Add one drop of glue where you want the middle of the bow. Make sure the glued part of your loop is on the bottom so it is hidden.
In the loop add one more drop of glue on the inside and press the top of your circle down.

Step 7. Add the center
Using the 1 1/2" length of ribbon glue one end on the bottom side of the clip.

Wrap it around and one last drop of glue will secure it in place.

And now you have a cute little hair clippie.

My 7 and 8 year old daughters like to wear these to keep their bangs pulled back out of their face.
Bald?? Not a problem!! You can also clip them right onto a headband.
